Make It A Day

The Western Science Center is offering a supervised lunchtime for campers signed up for both morning and afternoon camps in the same week session. Supervised lunchtime is $2 each per camper, per day. Camper must bring their own lunch.

Lunchtime: 12:00pm – 12:30pm

Registration for the supervised lunchtime program is required at least two weeks Before start of camp!!

WSC Member $85.00 Non-Member $95.00 Material Fees apply for some camps and are due at time of registration.

The Western Science Center is an independent 501(c) 3 non-profit organization and depends on your generous support and donations to bring high quality programs and exhibits to the region.

Our summer camps are designed to be fun, hands-on, and educational. Our instructors, from Hemet Unified School District and Mt. San Jacinto College, along with our museum staff have many years experience teaching in their field, and are excited to share their knowledge in an entertaining and informative manner.

DNA Biology Lab

(Entering grades 7-12)

Instructor: Nick Reeves

This camp will explore the structure
and function of DNA through hands-on experimentation culminating in the transformation of a normal bacteria strain into a glowing genetically modifies bacterial strain.

Excavate: Paleontology!

(Entering grades 6-11)

Instructor: Darla Abigt

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a real Indiana Jones? Get your hands dirty learning field techniques, procedures
and ethics of archaeology using our Simulated Dig Site and lab. Campers will map, excavate and research their own finds! What will the artifacts you find tell us about the past?

$5 material fee per camper applies.

Time Traveler’s Camp

(Entering grades 3-6)

Instructor: Margaret Ozolins

Explore different cultures from the past,through the artifacts they left behind while playing games and making your own artifact.

$10 material fee per camper applies.

Science Sleuth Lab

(Entering grades 3-6)

Instructor: Margaret Ozolins

Solve mysteries through science with this fun camp! From Paleontology to CSI, see what you can discover when you’re the sleuth!

Messerific! Camp

(Entering grades 3-6)

Instructor: Krystle Sibole

Ok, we know the word is made up, but what better way to describe this terrific and messy camp! Have fun while getting creative. From splat painting to snack food towers, this camp will be Messerific! Part A and B are unique sessions, campers can attend one or both sessions. This camp will be using some food so please let us know of any food allergies when registering. 

$10 material fee per camper applies.

Inventor’s Camp

(Entering grades 3-6)

Discover the science and imagination behind some of the world’s most famous inventors and scientists.  Through hands-on activities and experiments find out how they have changed the world we live in while finding your own inventor’s spark!

$10 material fee per camper applies.

Small Hands Science Camp

(Entering grades K-1)

A perfect camp for the curious, young scientist!  Each day campers will explore science through hands-on experiments, crafts, stories and games.

Science Explorer Camp

(Entering grades 1-3)

Discover and explore the many fields of science through fun hands-on activities.  From Astronomy to Zoology, we will explore them all!  Part A and Part B are unique sessions, so science explorers can attend one or both sessions.

Art and Nature Camp
