Volunteer Program

Join a group of individuals who want to provide the best in science education, regional history and fun. The Western Science Center facilitates a Volunteer Program to connect the talents of our region’s volunteers with the needs of visitors and students.

After completing your orientation and training, you will be able to select from several subject areas and types of responsibilities, including:

  • Be available to answer visitors’ questions in the exhibition galleries.
  • Provide tours for school field trips.
  • Assist in outreach programs for schools and community events.
  • Provide assistance in the administrative offices. Help with filing, typing, mailings, phone and e-mail correspondence.

The Western Center attracts thousands of visitors, locals and tourists, every year. Our volunteers help visitors to have an enjoyable and educational experience.

Orientation and Training

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can attend a meeting to learn more about the roles and responsibilities of being a volunteer. During the initial meeting at the museum, a volunteer will complete an application to indicate their interest areas. The formal training period helps new volunteers become familiar with content and expectations for their chosen activity. For more information about the volunteer program, please contact Western Center Volunteer Coordinator Krystle Sibole by phone at (951) 791-0033, by email, or download an application to volunteer.
